EIGHTEEN POINT ADVANTAGE FOR WORCESTERSHIRE WITH TWO GAMES REMAINING

Worcestershire will hold an 18-point advantage over third placed Sussex in the battle for promotion from Division Two of the LV=Insurance County Championship heading into the final two matches of the season.

The top two teams earn promotion to Division One with Durham have already secured a return to the top flight.

Sussex have emerged as their nearest challengers after a thrilling 15 run win over Leicestershire at Hove.

Leicestershire had been set a massive 499 target but looked on target for victory at 453-6 before being eventually dismissed for 483.

It means they have been overtaken in third place by Sussex who picked up 20 points to Leicestershire’s three from the game.

Teams earn 16 points for a win with 5 batting and 3 bowling bonus points available in the first 110 overs of the first innings. A draw is worth 5 points.
