Ed Pollock believes Worcestershire have achieved “an unbelievable coup” in signing batter Adam Hose on a three-year contract.
Pollock was already fully aware firsthand of Hose’s qualities from when they were team-mates at Warwickshire.
He says Hose has “taken his game to the next level” during the past year or so.
Hose has returned to New Road to continue preparations for the 2023 season after a winter enhancing his white ball skills in the T10 League, Big Bash League and International T20 League.
Pollock is confident Hose will also emulate himself in adjusting to LV=Insurance County Championship cricket.
Pollock said: “It is an unbelievable coup that we’ve managed to sign him, and I’ve seen how dangerous he is.
“He always had power and could always clear the ropes in T20, but it looks like he has taken his game to the next level during the last 12-18 months.
“That experience gained from playing around the world will only benefit him.
“I am excited because I’m pretty sure he will clear New Road a couple of times. If anyone can do it, he can!
“It’s great seeing how he has done in the Big Bash League, and I think he has kicked on and has still got another few gears in him.
“He is also very similar to me in scoring hundreds in Warwickshire’s second team without getting that look-in at Championship level.
“I’ve no doubt that playing Championship cricket, he will succeed.”
Pollock scored two Championship centuries and a 98 in his first season at New Road but said Hose was a helping hand ahead of his match-winning hundred in the away win over Middlesex.
He said: “Adam is another good calm head to have around because, before the Middlesex knock, when I went through a lean patch, I reached out to a couple of people to chat to, and he was one of them.
“We were in a coffee shop for an hour and a half just chatting about batting and how I was going to get myself back on track.
“It’s nice he is in-house now, an extra person to talk to.”
