Brett D’Oliveira ended the winter a double winner as the MCC overcame Essex by an innings and 34 runs in the Champion County match in Bridgetown.
The Worcestershire all-rounder had already helped the North to defeat the South 2-1 in the 50 over series, also in the Caribbean.
Now he has been part of an MCC side who overcame their opponents with a day to spare at the Kensington Oval.
With also being being a key part of Worcestershire promotion winning side in the Specsavers County Championship last summer, it has certainly been a few months to remember for the 26-year-old D’Oliveira.
He can look back on a successful winter from a personal as well as a team point of view.
D’Oliveira put together scores of 43, 79 and 17 batting in the middle order for the North and picked up an important wicket in each game to give him returns of 1-48, 1-44 and 1-36.
Then he made a useful 30 when batting in his accustomed opening role for MCC who rattled up 408-8 declared and bowled out Essex for 187 in both innings.
Dominic Bess did the damage in Essex’s second innings with 6-51 to follow his unbeaten century.
D’Oliveira will now head for home to rejoin his Worcestershire team-mates although he will not play in the three day game with Leeds-Bradford MCCU at RGS Worcester starting on Sunday (11am).
