DELL HITS HALF CENTURY ON COMEBACK AND KASHIF SHOWS MORE PROMISE

Josh Dell launched his Worcestershire comeback with a half century for the Seconds before Kashif Ali produced another fine knock on day two of the Second Eleven Championship match with Warwickshire at Portland Road, Edgbaston.

Dell has missed the first half of the season after suffering a broken finger during pre-season training at Edgbaston.

But the opener quickly made his presence felt by making an accomplished 72 in Worcestershire’s first innings in reply to Warwickshire’s 497-7 declared.

Dell shared in stands of 72 with Jordon Neil (25) and 48 with Kashif before he was third out at 137. He faced 90 balls and struck 15 fours.

Kashif then sparkled for the remainder of the day in making an unbeaten 79 from 99 balls with one six and 11 fours.

He added 75 for the fifth wicket with Ollie Walker (35) who was dismissed just before the close.

Worcestershire ended the day on 242-5 from 56 overs.

The second new ball brought two early breakthroughs for Worcestershire with the second new ball after Warwickshire resumed on 315-5.

Adam Finch and Yadvinder Singh picked up one wicket apiece before  George Maddy (103) and Michael Booth (65) added an unbroken 147 in 22.2 overs.

Finch ended with figures of 21-6-62-2, Singh 16-1-57-2, Pat Brown 14-2-58-1, Jacques Banton 20-1-84-1 and Neil 9-0-35-1.
