Worcestershire CCC are sad to report the death of Harry George Moule who had been Worcestershire's oldest first class cricketer before he passed away earlier this month.
Kidderminster-born Moule died in his 95th year at Barnstaple on June 15.
Moule made only one appearance for the County, when he played against Cambridge University at New Road in 1952.
He opened the batting and scored 45 and 57 against a strong side that included established and future Test cricketers in David Sheppard, Peter May, Raman Subba Row, West Indies’ wicket-keeper F.C.M. Alexander, and South Africa’s paceman and C.N. McCarthy.
Ironically, Moule’s opening partner was Norman Whiting, who was Worcestershire’s previous oldest cricketer.
Nothing further is known of Moule’s life until he retired to Fremington.
It was there that he liked nothing better than to watch cricket at nearby Instow, the home of North Devon CC in its picturesque setting by the estuaries of the rivers Taw and Torridge.
