DEADLINE APPROACHING FOR WORCESTERSHIRE CRICKET BOARD OSCAS NOMINATIONS

the natwest oscas are a national reward and recognition scheme to support grass roots cricket and the vast army of volunteers who ensure that cricket can be enjoyed by so many at all levels.

each year worcestershire cricket board limited ask clubs and organisations in the region to nominate worthy volunteers for an osca so that we can say ‘thank you’ to them for all their hard work, with a hospitality day out at New Road.

in 2019 this will be staged on day three of the specsavers county championship game between worcestershire and derbyshire on tuesday july 9.

these awards are a fantastic opportunity to nominate and recognise the volunteers who make cricket possible at your club.

there are 12 different categories to nominate someone for – and nominations are not limited to one individual-group per category – with the closing deadline being this monday (june 10).

the categories are:

heartbeat of the club – the special volunteer that your club simply couldn’t do without, often the roles they carry out are behind the scenes. they often undertake a number of different roles, and are always there to lend a hand.


lifetime achiever – this individual will have made an outstanding difference to their cricket club, league, board or local cricket community over a significant number of years.


young volunteer (14-18) – this award is designed to highlight and show the fantastic contribution that young volunteers aged between 14 & 18 on september 1st 2019 can make within the game.


young volunteer (19-25) – this award is designed to highlight and show the fantastic contribution that young volunteers aged between 19 & 25 on september 1st 2019 can make within the game.


the most inspiring & diverse cricket offer – this award is designed to highlight a club, league or community organisation that offers member led products, programmes and events that encourage participation from all members of their community. innovation and pushing the boundaries are to be rewarded here and we want to recognise growth within the game.


pro-active leadership in cricket – this award is designed to highlight and show the essential contribution that proactive leadership can make within the club, leagues, officiating, community or county organisation’s. we want to recognise those individuals who are providing vision and direction in growing the game and reaching into new markets.


ecbca: outstanding contribution – this person has been at the heart of things seemingly forever. they have probably played every role there is to play and without them cricket coaching in your club, in your league, your county or at your school just wouldn’t be the same or just would happen at all.


worcestershire cricket awards:

north worcestershire award tigger award – this award is for outstanding service to cricket in
north worcestershire. it’s in memory of andy ‘tigger’ handley who sadly passed away last year who himself made an enormous and telling contribution, not only to cricket in womborne but also to cricket in north worcestershire and south staffordshire.


all stars centre award – this award is for the worcestershire all stars centre that has provided the best start experience for participants at their centre in 2019. this includes progression, great communication, a warm welcome, engaging the family and more than cricket.


school of the year – every year, worcestershire cricket present this award to a selected school, recognising their contributions to develop a cricket culture within the county, highlighting their flare and ambition to go the extra mile for their pupils.


bill jones – volunteer of the year – worcestershire cricket launched the bill jones memorial volunteer of the year award in memory of one of recreational cricket’s most loyal and hardworking volunteers – mr bill (w.f.) jones. the award offers an ideal opportunity for your club/organisation to recognise hard working volunteers who you feel have ‘made a difference’ either during the year or over time.
