Young bowler Harry Darley is looking to play as many first team games as possible during the remainder of the season.
Darley looks set to earn more opportunities, particularly given Worcestershire’s lengthy injury list in the bowling department.
The 19-year-old made his first senior appearance last summer and picked up the wickets of Chad Bowes and Rachin Ravindra during a T20 match against New Zealand.
He was also included in the squad at various times for the Metro Bank One Day Cup although he did not make an appearance.
But the Academy product, signed a rookie contract with Worcestershire in February for 2024.
Darley made his third appearance in the T20 Blast this summer against Yorkshire on Sunday at Visit Worcestershire New Road and hopes to add more games.
He said: “Ambitions for the rest of the season? Hopefully just to play as many first team games as possible.
“I know we are short with injuries which gives me a bit of an opportunity to play and hopefully I can take that and keep working hard and keep my confidence nice and high.
“It would be really nice just to get a few games in, playing consistently and showing what I can do.
“It would be nice to play in the One Day Cup. Definitely. It was a competition I was in squad-wise last year at times.
“I didn’t get to play, but this one, I would love to get a few games.”
Darley bounced back from a testing Blast debut against Lancashire at Emirates Old Trafford to take two wickets in two balls against Leicestershire.
The Shrewsbury born player has his feet firmly on the ground.
He said: “It is a difficult up and down sport. The up and down emotions are very high and low and it’s massive.
“It wasn’t the debut I wanted. It was a bit emotional but it’s cricket, isn’t it, and the support from the lads is great and to have everyone around me.
“To then do well at New Road in front of everyone was nice. You’ve got to back each other, be resilient.”
