Worcestershire Cricket Society Chair, Richard Shaw, has passed away at the age of 76.
Richard was Treasurer of the Society between 2014 and 2017 and then took over as Chair in December 2018.
He was a lifelong Worcestershire – and West Bromwich Albion – supporter and, in later years operated as a steward at New Road.
Norton born Richard had a lengthy career as a police officer in the West Mercia Police force, where he first met his wife Christine, and retired in 1997 as Chief Inspector.
He then spent 11 years working as a civilian claims investigator for the force.
Richard was also Chair – and a trustee – of the Battle of Worcester Society, giving detailed talks on that conflict and the English Civil War.
He joined the Cricket Society in 2011 and was made an honorary Life Member as a thank-you for his services.
Worcestershire Chair, Fanos Hira, said: On behalf of the entire Club, I extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the family and friends of Richard.
“He has made considerable contributions to the Club and the broader community for many years, I loved seeing him at our ground, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and close ones during this difficult time.
