Ben Cox became the first Worcestershire player to top 500 Specsavers County Championship runs this summer – but by only a few minutes!
The consistent Worcestershire wicket-keeper batsman reached the landmark when on 26 during the second innings of the recent encounter with Gloucestershire at Cheltenham.
He was joined on the 500 mark shortly afterwards by Callum Ferguson when on 61 at the College Ground.
Both players have scored one century and three fifties in the Championship this summer ahead of tomorrow’s encounter with Northamptonshire at Wantage Road.
On the bowling front, Club Captain Joe Leach and Charlie Morris now both have 33 Championship wickets to their name in 2019.
Leach moved level with paceman Morris, who did not play at Cheltenham, with the aid of his first innings haul of 6-79.
It included the 300th first class wicket of his career.
Not far behind is all-rounder Ed Barnard who has a haul of 31 wickets – including 24 in the last five matches – in addition to 313 runs.
