County Want Parnell To Stay For Remainder Of Season

worcestershire are hoping to extend wayne parnell’s stay at New Road for the final two specsavers county championship matches of the season.

the county want parnell to replace ravichandran ashwin as their overseas player for the finale of the campaign after the indian spinner was ruled out through injury.

parnell was due initially to end his spell with worcestershire after vitality blast finals day at edgbaston on saturday.

worcestershire ceo matt rawnsley confirmed: “we are talking to wayne about extending his spell here.

“wayne is very keen to stay and we have agreed on that verbally and are now working on obtaining a no objection certificate from cricket south africa.”

parnell has made a big impression in the blast and become an increasing influence in the championship.
