COUNTY TRIO CLARK, BRAGG AND CULLEN CONTRIBUTE IN SUPER FOURS

COUNTY TRIO CLARK, BRAGG AND CULLEN CONTRIBUTE IN SUPER FOURS

Worcestershire Academy-pathway players have made several useful contributions for the Midlands in this week’s Super Fours – the Under-17s equivalent of the Bunburys – at The National Performance Centre, Loughborough.

Pete Clark picked up two wickets for 31 runs in his nine overs and Henry Cullen one catch behind the stumps against the South West in the opening 50 over game.

Clark then top-scored with an unbeaten 28 off 58 balls batting at number four as the Midlands chased the South West all out total of 195 in 44.5 overs.

Ed Bragg chipped in with 19 off 26 deliveries but the Midlands were bowled out for 136 with still 15.3 overs of their innings remaining.

The focus then switched to a T10 match – also against the South West – and this time the Midlands triumphed by seven wickets.

Clark took the new ball and had respectable figures of 2-0-22-1 and it was a similar story for Bragg with an analysis of 2-0-21-1.

The South West posted 114-8 in their 10 overs but the Midlands raced to a seven wicket win in just 7.2 overs. Bragg was at the crease on nought not out when the winning runs were hit.

The Midlands reverted back to 50 over cricket against the North and went down by seven wickets.

Bragg (20 off 33 balls) and Cullen (16 off 22) made useful late order runs during a partnership of 27 for the eighth wicket as the Midlands totalled 38.1.

Bragg (3.1-0-25-1) then dismissed century-maker JJ Fielding for 117 and Clark bowled five overs for 27 runs as the North reached their target in 38.1 overs.
