County T20 Blast Player Munro Ruled Out Of Auckland Title Crunch Through Injury

Worcestershire's 2015 NatWest T20 Blast player Colin Munro has been ruled out of Auckland's final Plunket Shield encounter with visiting Otago through injury.

Munro rocked his ankle during the win over Central Districts which kept alive Auckland's hopes of winning the title and had not recovered sufficiently.

He scored a record number of sixes for a first class innings – 23 – in achieving a career best score of 281 during that win.

Munro was disappointed from a personal point of view to miss the Otago clash as he had been looking to complete 1,000 first class runs for the campaign.

He will finish with 899 runs at an average of 56.18.

Munro is due to link up with the county for a second spell in mid May in preparation for the opening T20 Blast clash away to Birmingham Bears on May 22.

Auckland trail leaders Canterbury by 10 points going into the final round of matches and need to win and hope their rivals slip up against Northern Districts.

Auckland put Otago into bat and they scored 355-9 from 97 overs on the opening day.

In the other encounter, Northern Districts declared after reaching 256-8 and then reduced Canterbury to 76-3 by the close.
