Moeen Ali will head into 2019 with his place firmly cemented in the top 10 of all-rounders in world cricket.
Worcestershire Rapids Vitality Blast winning captain is currently ranked the sixth best all-rounder in ODIs and seventh in Tests via the latest ICC rankings.
It follows another successful year in the five-day and 50 over formats for Moeen after a short spell when he was not selected in the Test X1.
Moeen ‘s efforts have helped England to reach number one in the ODI rankings and second in Test cricket ahead of an exciting summer which includes the ICC World Cup and an Ashes series.
The 31-year-old is England’s best placed ODI all-rounder on 289 points ahead of Chris Woakes (8th – 278 points) and Ben Stokes (13th – 250 points).
In Test cricket, Moeen is second to Stokes (5th – 342 points) of the England players with a total of 292 points.
During the 2018 calendar year, Moeen picked up 29 ODI wickets – the joint sixth highest tally – and 32 in seven Tests – the joint 18th best haul.
This included a run of 30 from five Tests against India and Sri Lanka after regaining his spot in the side.
