new worcestershire signing riki wessels helped bengal tigers to finish third in the t10 league in sharjah after triumphing over maratha arabians in the play-off encounter.
wessels, who has signed a three year deal with the county, finished the contest in the grand manner with a six off somerset all-rounder roleof van der merwe.
he ended unbeaten on 11 from just three deliveries as the tigers chased down a 122 target with five balls to spare.
it was a satisfactory conclusion to the tournament for wessels who came into the tigers side for the final three matches.
yorkshire batsman adam lyth struck 52 off 24 balls as the arabians totalled 121-6 in their 10 overs and then west indian player sherfane rutherford made 46 from 21 deliveries for the tigers before wessels saw his team over the finishing line.
the two teams had also clashed in the eliminator final and on that occasion wessels ended on the losing side.
he made 17 off eight balls out of bengal’s 135-7 but an unbeaten 87 from his long time nottinghamshire team-mate alex hales helped the arabians to victory.
