New Worcestershire signing Riki Wessels is set to launch his T10 League campaign in Sharjah tomorrow with Bengal Tigers.
Wessels, who has signed a three year contract with the County from 2019-2021, is part of the squad to face Northern Warriors in Sharjah.
Also vying for places are ex Worcestershire paceman Zaheer Khan – now aged 40 – Luke Wright, Jason Roy, Morne Morkel, Sam Billings and Sunil Narine.
Meanwhile another Worcestershire signing in Wayne Parnell was on the winning side for Kerala Kings in their opening game in the competition against Pakhtoons.
Parnell, who has also signed a three year deal starting next summer after helping the Rapids to Vitality Blast glory, brought about the run out of Liam Dawson (25).
He bowled two overs for 32 runs as Pakhtoon totalled 109-5 in their 10 overs.
Kerala Kings made easy meat of their target which they overhauled with 2.1 overs to spare.
England white ball captain Eoin Morgan – and the Kings skipper – struck an unbeaten 46 with Middlesex’s Paul Stirling making 40 in an eight wicket success.
The eight teams taking part will initially feature in two groups of four.
The two groups will then feature in a series of play-offs, semi-finals and eliminators to decide who contests the final on December 2.
