worcestershire ccc are sad to report the recent death of william ‘ernie’ mann who was the club’s joint match-day pa announcer for more than two decades.
ernie and clive fieth relayed information to members and supporters on match-days at New Road from 1995 until their retirement at the end of the 2018 season.
to mark their long and voluntary service to the county, ernie and clive were both awarded with a worcestershire ccc honorary life membership.
ernie’s voice was known to all who attended games for his individual announcing style.
he and clive joined forces in their role on the same day after an appeal by the club for people to take on this important role.
ernie was also a long-serving member of the worcestershire cricket society and regularly attended their winter cricket evenings.
worcestershire ccc would like to send their condolences to ernie’s family at this sad time.
