SOGGY END TO WORCESTERSHIRE’S COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP CAMPAIGN

There was a soggy end to Worcestershire’s Specsavers County Championship campaign against Sussex at the 1st Central County Ground, Hove.

The third day had been abandoned without a ball being bowled after heavy overnight rain was followed by frequent showers.

Sadly the final day suffered the same fate and left umpires Jerry Lloyds and Paul Baldwin with the inevitable decision to abandon the game.

Sussex totalled 299 for eight in the play that was possible and Worcestershire duo Ed Barnard and Charlie Morris both picked up three wickets apiece.

It left Worcestershire having to be content with a haul of seven points – two bonus points for bowling plus five for the share of the spoils.

Meanwhile, a face familiar to Worcestershire supporters in 2018 overseas player, Travis Head, is to join opponents Sussex for the 2020 campaign.
