Worcestershire CCC coach Andy Sutton made a decisive contribution with the ball as Barnt Green gained a two run win over Knowle and Dorridge in a Birmingham Premier League Graham Williamson Trophy quarter-final.

Sutton, who was the Lead Coach for last week’s Second Eleven match against Lancashire at Northern CC, turned the game on its head with a deadly burst.

Knowle and Dorridge were coasting at 119-3 in pursuit of a 166 target but it became 127-7 after Sutton picked up four wickets in quick succession.

The first of those scalps was Tom Smith (64) and he finished with 5-47 as Barnt Green managed to get over the finishing line.

Sutton was also amongst the wickets in the Premier Division One game against West Bromwich Dartmouth – 3-42 from nine overs – but his side went down by 15 runs under the Duckworth Lewis Method after being set a revised target of 223 in 46 overs.

Worcestershire wicket-keeper-batsman Alex Milton’s half century was key for Bromsgrove in their two wicket win over Tamworth in Premier Division Two.

Milton came in at 23-2 after Bromsgrove had bowled Tamworth out for 146.

He added 90 for the fourth wicket with Ryan Pedley (37) to take the total to 117-3 and, despite a late order collapse, saw his side to victory.

Milton’s 54 not out from 107 balls contained seven fours.

County batsman Josh Dell – included in the squad for the Royal London One-Day Cup match with Derbyshire – made 30 off 49 balls with one six and three fours as Ombersley won by seven wickets against Barnards Green (125 all out in 44.3 overs).
