County Batting Coach Is Cricket Society Agm Guest Speaker

Worcestershire Cricket Society will be holding their Annual General Meeting in the Graeme Hick Pavilion on Tuesday, May 2 at 7.30pm.

The County's Batting Coach-Second Eleven Coach Kevin Sharp has kindly agreed to be the guest speaker at the AGM.

He follows in the footsteps of the then Worcestershire batsman Richard Oliver in 2015 and former Club Chairman-President John Elliott 12 months ago.

Sharp, 57, has enjoyed a successful and prolonged career in cricket spanning the best part of four decades.

The former England Under-19 captain played for Yorkshire from 1976 to 1990 and scored nearly 10,000 first class and 5,000 List A runs.

After a spell with Shropshire, he returned to Yorkshire in a coaching capacity and worked closely with new England Test captain Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow and Gary Ballance amongst others.

Sharp also enjoyed a period as Shropshire coach before the call came from Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes three years ago to take up a post at New Road.

He has overseen the emergence of several players making the step up from the Second Eleven to the senior side including Joe Clarke, Ed Barnard, Brett D'Oliveira and George Rhodes.
