Worcestershire Academy Player Of The Year Alex Milton is continuing the form he showed last summer for Malvern College and the county Second Eleven whilst playing for Cape Town side Claremont CC this winter.
Eighteen-year-old Milton scored his maiden century for Claremont to lead a recovery against West Cape University CC – one of the top sides in the Western Province Cricket Association.
Milton, who is taking up a summer contract with the MCC Young Cricketers in 2015, came to the wicket with his side in trouble after following on 150 behind against an attack including former South African ODI international and Derbyshire player Charl Langeveldt.
His response was a superb and defiant 129 from 180 balls.
That followed on from an unbeaten 59 from Milton which had helped his Claremont to victory against Kuils River CC.
Redhill-born Milton at one stage last summer scored four successive centuries for Malvern College.
He also represented the midlands in the England and Wales Cricket Board Under-17s Super Fours.
Milton then made several useful contributions for the Worcestershire Second Eleven during the second part of the season before scoring his first hundred for them off 164 balls in a three day clash against Middlesex at Radlett.
