Worcestershire have included several senior players in their line-up for the opening Second Eleven Trophy clash with Warwickshire at Moseley Cricket Club on Tuesday (11am start).
Tom Fell, Joe Clarke – who will keep wicket – and Brett D'Oliveira of the side which defeated Northamptonshire inside two days in the Specsavers County Championship have been selected.
The 50 over contest is 48 hours ahead of the launch of the Rapids Royal London One-Day Cup campaign against Notts Outlaws at New Road.
Paceman Jack Shantry, who was in the squad of 12 for the Northants clash, and all-rounder Ross Whiteley are also included.
Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes confirmed: "There are some guys who are going to be playing in that game, the likes of Tom Fell and Joe Clarke who is going to be keeping as well.
"It will keep him 'in' with the gloves and, if something happens to Coxy (Ben Cox), he is our man to take over.
"Dolly is going to have a game as well to get some white ball batting and bowling."
Coach Kevin Sharp's side will emulate the senior team in playing blocks of white ball cricket this summer as opposed to hopping in betweeen different competitions.
He said: "It's interesting. I quite like the structure, that it is in blocks this time, a little bit of Championship cricket to start with, then 50 over, Champo, T20, Champo.
"I'm guessing it may be a situation where the players, rather than hopping around all the time….I'm hoping that will be helpful for everyone.
"But it's 50 over cricket in England in April and we know early season, the ball can nip around a bit with two new balls.
"It may be a more cautious sort of game, particularly for batsman against two new balls. That is down to the players to be tactically aware and quickly assess conditions."
The Seconds struggled in white ball cricket last summer in contrast to their form in the Championship.
Sharp said: "It was a struggle last year. At times, we lacked a bit of experience with it. Even some of the pros hadn't played masses of it. At times we fell a bit short with our tactical awareness and composure.
"We did at times on a number of occasions get into winning positions but weren't able to get over the line.
"I would suspect those lads now they are 12 months older would have learnt enormously from what went before.
"It wouldn't surprise me if we completely flipped it around and had a successful campaign.
"Squads change in the second eleven. You can have a number of experienced players one week and the next it could be a relatively inexperienced team.
"That is the nature of it. I know looking at the fixtures, particularly early season, there are a few days when the second team are playing when the first team are not playing.
"If there is anyone who needs a bit of form or needs that extra game or so, then the opportunities will be there for them to play second eleven cricket if necessary."
