Clarke Dismissed For 22 As Lions Battle To Avoid Series Whitewash

Joe Clarke was dismissed for 22 as West Indies A put themselves on the verge of victory on day three of the final “Test” against England Lions in Antigua.

The Worcestershire batsman struck three boundaries in his 49 ball knock after again coming in at number four.

But he was fifth out at 118 after the Lions had been set a 408 victory target.

Clarke – who had scored the Lions only half century in the second ‘Test’ – was bowled by slow left armer Jomel Warrican.

The ball flicked off his pads onto the stumps.

The Lions ended day three on 132-6 and facing a 3-0 series whitewash unless there are some last day batting heroics.

Jahmar Hamilton and Shane Dowrich scored the bulk of the Windies second innings runs, with 79 and 71 respectively before the declaration at 273-9 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

Dominic Bess returned 5-88 on his Lions debut.

The Lions reached 78-1 in their second innings but then lost five wickets in the final session in the blistering conditions.
