Worcestershire duo Joe Clarke and Ed Barnard helped England Under-19s to overcome South Africa Under-19s in the first ODI between the countries at Edgbaston.
South Africa were put into bat and wicket-keeper Clarke claimed four catches as the visitors were bowled out for 227 in 48.1 overs.
One of his catches came off the bowling of Barnard who dismissed South African opener Ryan Rickleton for 47.
Barnard finished with 1-26 off four overs. Clarke then played a major role with the bat as England secured a two wicket win with four balls to spare.
He figured in the most decisive partnership of the innings – 101 for the fourth wicket with Haseeb Hameed.
Clarke hit 39 off 57 balls with three fours before he was dismissed.
Barnard then weighed in with a quickfire 21 off 28 overs.
The sides will meet again at Trent Bridge tomorrow and then on Monday at the same venue with the fourth and fifth ODIs at Grace Road (Wednesday) and Derby (Friday).
