Clarke Amongst Runs And Dismissals During England Under-19S Success

Worcestershire duo Joe Clarke and Ed Barnard were part of the England Under-19 side which overcame South Africa Under-19s by 74 runs under the Duckworth Lewis method in the second ODI at Trent Bridge.

England amassed 305-5 in their 50 overs with wicket-keeper Clarke weighing in with 25 not out off 20 balls after his 39 in the opening ODI at Edgbaston.

He hit four fours while Barnard was dismissed for a duck in the final over of the innings in the scramble for runs.

South Africa were set a revised target of 291 in 46 overs under D-L and were dismissed for 216 in 42.5 overs.

Clarke picked up two victims behind the stumps. He caught opener Hanco Olivier for 19 off the bowling of Brad Taylor.

Then Clarke stumped dangerman Janneman Malan off Matthew Fisher for 76 from 77 balls with 10 fours. Barnard bowled just one over for nine runs.

England now lead 2-0 in the best of five match series.

The sides will meet again at Trent Bridge tomorrow with the fourth and fifth ODIs at Grace Road (Wednesday) and Derby (Friday).
