Pete Clark produced an excellent spell of spin bowling as Worcestershire Academy fought back on day one of the Tri-Series encounter with Northamptonshire at Overstone CC.
The left armer returned the superb figures of 14-2-28-7 as Northamptonshire, who at one stage were 240-2, were bowled out for 326.
Northants opener Ben Claydon carried his bat for a fine 192 not out from 243 balls with two sixes and 25 fours.
After George Marshall had made an initial breakthrough, Claydon and Emilo Gay (66) added 126 for the second wicket.
But Riecko Parker-Cole removed the latter – and then Clark took centre stage and bamboozled the remainder of the Northamptonshire batsmen.
Only Claydon stood firm as the home side were bowled out in 75 overs.
Worcestershire lost three quick wickets in reply with Clark and Zain Ul-Hassan both caught behind and Alex Hinkley lbw.
But opener Charlie Clist will resume on 14 not out tomorrow with the Academy’s total standing on 48-3.
