Worcestershire Women’s Rapids spinner, Sarah Glenn, achieved her career best figures on T20I cricket to help England to a nine wicket win over India at the Seat Unique Riverside.
Glenn finished with the excellent analysis of 4-23 from her four overs as India were restricted to 132-7 after being put into bat.
An unbeaten 61 from Sarah Dunkley helped England to victory in just 13 overs in the opening game of the Vitality T20I Series.
It gave them some revenge for being knocked out of the Commonwealth Games by India last month.
Glenn’s fine effort surpassed her previous best T20I figures of 3-20 against Pakistan at Canberra during the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
She came into the attack immediately after the completion of the first powerplay with India 41-1 and struck with her fourth delivery as Shafali Verma (14) holed out to long off.
Glenn also made a breakthrough in her next over as Dayalan Hemalatha (10) aimed a blow across the line and was lbw.
She came back into the attack for the 13th over and Harmanpreet Kaur (20) was bowled by a ball which kept low.
Glenn returned for her fourth and final over – the 17th – and Kiran Navgire (7) pulled a delivery straight to deep mid wicket.
Dunkley shared in stands of 60 with Danni Wyatt and an unbroken 74 with Alice Capsey as England raced to victory.
The second game in the series takes place at the Incora County Ground, Derby on Tuesday.
