CAMERON JONES HITS CENTURY ON RETURN TO ACADEMY ACTION

Cameron Jones returned to Worcestershire Academy action and hit a century in their ECB Under-18 County Plate quarter-final win over Lincolnshire at Collingham CC.

Jones had made his List A debut for Worcestershire the previous day, against Somerset in the Metro Bank One Day Cup at Taunton, and made a promising first appearance with bowling figures of 1-28 from seven overs.

But for the Academy it was with the bat that he made an impact by making 101 off 103 balls batting at number four.

Jones came to the wicket at 11-2 after the Academy had chosen to bat and added 73 with Reeve Evitts (31) and 97 with Ollie Walker (65).

He was eventually fourth out with the total 181 after hitting two sixes and five fours.

But Walker ensured a substantial total was achieved and he struck three sixes and one four in his 78 ball knock as Worcestershire totalled 242-6 from 50 overs.

Jones did not bowl when Lincolnshire launched their reply and they reached 86-0.

But Ben Clarke, who was the sixth bowler used, made the first breakthrough and went onto return fine figures of 10-1-23-4.

He was well supported by skipper Joe Stanley (10-0-25-2) as Lincolnshire closed on 168-8.

Ollie Smith (1-25) and Louis Hursthouse (1-29) were the other wicket-takers and Joshua Leach bowled 10 overs for 31 runs.
