Bumpy Says Dolly And Clarke “will Not Want To Stop” At Lions Level

Worcestershire Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes said Brett D'Oliveira "will not want to stop there" after earning his first England Lions call-up.

D'Oliveira and Joe Clarke, who was part of the Lions winter squad in the UAE, have been chosen for the Tri-Series later this month against Pakistan 'A' and Sri Lanka 'A'.

But Rhodes says the duo have ambitions to eventually play on the full international stage for their country.

He said: "I'm delighted. As a coach I'm lucky enough to have been at a club for a long period of time and the way we run things at Worcester is that our senior coaches coach our junior teams, the pathway, the satellite academy and the academy.

"For Brett and Joe to both come through that system and get to the Lions is really special.

"I remember Brett as a little toddler running around after a game on the outfield when I was playing with his father (Damian) so it is nice to see he has got to the England Lions level – and he won't want to stop there. I know that.

"Neither of them will want to stop there. They both see this as progress and they both ultimately have ambition to play at the highest level. "

"Joe has been there before in the winter (against Pakistan 'A') but credit to him, he has done well this year and he deserves the opportunity – as does Brett.

"We are going to miss those two players because we haven't got a massive staff but it is exactly what we want.

"We want these lads playing representative cricket for England and England Lions."
