BROWN RETURNS TO ACTION FOR SECONDS IN FINALE TO T20 COMPETITION

Pat Brown will return to action as part of the Worcestershire Seconds side, who wind up their SET20 programme against Glamorgan Seconds at Kidderminster today (Thursday).

The England T20I paceman has missed the start of the Rapids Vitality Blast campaign while recovering from a back setback.

But Brown, the bowling star of the 2018 Blast triumph, is fit to face the Welsh county as he looks to build up his match fitness for him to return to the Rapids squad.

Worcestershire Bowling Coach Alan Richardson said: “Pat is back, which is good. There are only limited T20 games now in the Seconds, but we will try to get him as much cricket as possible to get him up to speed to allow him to play for us.

“It has been incredibly frustrating for him. With as much success as he has had over the last couple of years, he has had some downs as well (with injuries).

“He has probably fitted more in the last three or four years of his career than most people do over 14 years.

“Pat has got a good head on his shoulders, and he is a smart lad; he knows what he needs to do.

“We will try and give him that opportunity to get back up to speed so that he will be available for us in this format.”

The Seconds hopes of reaching SET20 finals day have receded with back to back defeats against Somerset and Northamptonshire.

But they will still seal the runners-up spot in the Central Group if they overcome Glamorgan with play getting underway at 1pm.
