worcestershire ccc paceman pat brown is back into his studies full swing after breaking into the first team at New Road last summer.
the 19-year-old made six natwest t20 blast appearances and also played in the final four specsavers county championship as he confirmed his promise.
but now brown has resumed his worcester university scholarship – a route also pursued by current first team players daryl mitchell and george rhodes and another up and coming young paceman in dillon pennington.
naturally brown wants to carve out a successful cricket career but knows completing his education is an insurance for the future and-or life after cricket.
brown, who went to bourne grammar school in lincolnshire, said: “it’s a good thing to fall back on because you never know what might happen, especially as a fast bowler.
“i could break a leg tomorrow or do a ligament and i’m done – so having a bit of security at university as well is brilliant.
“i do business management which a lot of people are surprised about although i don’t know why.
“i think everyone just assumes i would do sport or something in that area.
“i quite like some of the stuff we do. i quite like working with numbers and i’m interested in how business is run and stuff like that.”
brown will also combine his studies with training with the county squad when they report back for training in mid november.
