Ed Bragg marked his Second Eleven Championship debut for Worcestershire Seconds by picking up two wickets on a severely truncated second day against Northamptonshire at the County Ground, Northampton.

Bragg, part of the 2018-2019 Academy intake at Blackfinch New Road, accounted for openers Rob Newton (15) and Emilio Gay (18) after the home side had been put into bat.

The all-rounder, who played for the successful Under-17s side in the ECB Royal County Cup two weeks ago, came on first change when play got underway in the early afternoon and ended with figures of 6-1-22-2.

Bragg, who also featured for the Seconds in the T20 against Warwickshire at Stourport last week, has developed as a pace bowler during the past 12 months.

He showed his prowess as a batsman with a century for the Academy against Northants in the final game of last season.

Josh Breed โ€“ 1-16 in four overs โ€“ claimed Worcestershireโ€™s third success of the day in dismissing Richard Levi (22).

But only 22 overs were possible before bad light and rain ended play and Northamptonshire closed on 92-3 from 22 overs.

After a blank first day yesterday, Pat Brown and Dillon Pennington shared the new ball and bowled spells of 7-2-21-0 and 5-0-23-0 respectively.
