Edward Bragg and Matt Davis produced superb performances with the ball as Worcestershire Academy defeated Leicestershire by five wickets in a T20 which formed part of the Tri-Series at Old Northamptonians CC.
Leicestershire opted to bat and reached 31-0 but then Bragg and Davis came on as first and second change to deadly effect.
Bragg ended with figures of 4-10 from 3.4 overs and Davis 3-16 from four overs as Leicestershire were bowled out for 74 in 18.4 overs.
Lewis Evans (3-0-12-1), Harry Cooke (2-0-5-1) and Zain Ul-Hassan (1-0-5-1) were the other wicket-takers.
Ul-Hassan then made 21 off 22 balls before Worcestershire suffered a collapse of their own from 34-1 to 45-5.
But Jacques Banton (18 not out off 22 balls) and Ollie Walker (seven not out) saw the County home with 5.4 overs to spare.
The tables were reversed in Worcestershire’s second game of the day as they went down by nine wickets to Northamptonshire – the third team to participate in the Tri-Series.
Reeve Evitts (24) was the only player into double figures for Worcestershire who were bowled out for 66 in 18 overs after choosing to bat.
Evitts also claimed the only Northants wicket to fall as the host county reached their modest target in 9.3 overs.
Worcestershire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire also take part in 50 over and three-day matches as part of the Tri-Series each summer.
