Another Boycott is making a name for themselves in cricket – for the Worcestershire Women Rapids team.
Clare Boycott picked up a total of TEN wickets in two matches for the Rapids in Division Three of the ECB Women’s County Championship.
The pace bowler helped the Rapids to defeat Shropshire Cricket Board by six wickets at Quatt CC and was also in the team which went down by 50 runs to Staffordshire Cricket at Millford Hall CC.
The Rapids put Shropshire into bat and Boycott was virtually unplayable and finished with figures of 10-3-16-6.
She was largely responsible in bowling out Shropshire for 92 in 35.2 overs.
The Rapids reached their target in just 24.4 overs with Chloe Hill (20) and Issy Wong (23) their main contributors.
Staffordshire elected to bat and totalled 220-9 in 50 overs but there was another fine individual performance from a Rapids player in Chloe Hill who recently represented MCC Women at Lord’s.
She was responsible for FOUR stumpings – plus one catch – while Boycott again impressed with the ball in returning 4-43 from eight overs.
Lauren Rowles (2-45 off 10 overs) and Sally Clarke (1-34 off seven) were also amongst the wickets.
The Rapids made a strong start to their reply with opener Victoria King (48) and Boycott (33) helping them to reach 108-2.
But then a flurry of wickets ended their victory hopes and they were dismissed for 170 all out in 47.3 overs.
