the partnership between worcestershire county cricket club (‘wccc’) and blackfinch investments (‘blackfinch’) will conclude at the end of 2020 english domestic season.
blackfinch originally linked up with wccc in 2016 as ‘official shirt sleeve sponsor’. at the end of the 2017 season blackfinch became ‘official main sponsor’ of wccc and signed the clubs first naming rights deal which saw the county ground renamed as ‘New Road’.
over this period wccc has enjoyed unprecedented success. the worcestershire rapids won the vitality blast campaign in 2018 for the first time in its history. in 2019 the rapids again reached the vitality blast finals only to be edged out by essex eagles in the last ball of the competition.
fanos hira, chairman of worcestershire ccc, added “we would like to thank blackfinch for their support over the last four years and wish them well in the future”.
blackfinch’s ceo and founder richard cook says “we would like to thank the wccc for a great four years of sponsorship. we have had some fantastic times at New Road and wish them the best of luck for the upcoming season and in the future.”
further information on sponsors for the 2021 season will follow in due course, as from 4th october 2020 the ground will revert back to being known as new road.
