martin guptill is set to link up with worcestershire today (sunday) to begin his near six week stint of specsavers county championship and vitality blast action with the county.
head coach kevin sharp confirmed that the prolific new zealand batsman will make his debut in wednesday’s specsavers county championship encounter with lancashire at New Road.
guptill is also in line to play in the floodlit pink ball clash with nottinghamshire at trent bridge which begins on monday, june 25.
the 31-year-old is then available to play in the rapids opening eight vitality blast games before leaving the county at the end of july to play in the caribbean premier league.
guptill has played a major role in the black caps success in white ball cricket.
he has clocked up 159 odis – scoring 13 centuries at an average of 42.99 – and 75 t20is where he has a strike rate of 132.88.
guptill, who has also played in 47 tests, hit the second highest odi score of all time when making 237 not out against the west indies in the 2015 world cup quarter-final in wellington.
he also regularly plays in the big bash and the indian premier league.
