BIRTHDAY BOY JACK AVAILABLE FOR UNDER-19S AFTER ILLNESS

BIRTHDAY BOY JACK AVAILABLE FOR UNDER-19S AFTER ILLNESS

Jack Haynes is back available to be considered for selection for England Under-19s ICC World Cup Plate semi-final against Zimbabwe Under-19s in Kimberley tomorrow.

The Worcestershire CCC batsman has been ruled out of the last two matches against Nigeria and Japan because of illness.

But Haynes, who today celebrates his 19th birthday, is fit again for the match at the De Beers Diamond Oval.

He was selected for the opening two games of the tournament, scoring 27 versus the West Indies and 31 against Australia.

But England’s defeats in both of those games – the latter off the final ball by two wickets – meant they were eliminated from the main competition.

They overcame Nigeria by eight wickets in their final Group B fixture before defeating Japan by nine wickets in the Plate quarter-final.

Haynes was selected for the World Cup warm-up match against Zimbabwe but did not have the chance to bat as the game was abandoned.

His last six scores for the Under-19s either side of that wash-out are 19, 39, 32, 29, 27 and 31.
