Ed Barnard believes Worcestershire Rapids players could attract interest from T20 franchises around the world – in the same way as Ross Whiteley did 12 months ago – after their Vitality Blast success.
Whiteley played in the Bangladesh Premier League and Pakistan Super League last winter and says it helped him to become a better player.
But he also was able to pass on his experiences to the Rapids coaches and squad which on Saturday triumphed at Blast finals day.
All-rounder Barnard, who made crucial semi-final runs and fielded superbly, said: “I think a lot of the lads will be in the shop window now (for T20 tournaments).
“You look at the performances that they put in, the likes of Browny (Paul Brown), Rosco (Whiteley), Clarkey (Joe Clarke), pretty much everybody.
“They’ve had such good tournaments and if they put their names in the hat I don’t see any reason why teams won’t take a punt on them.
“The Blast is one of the hardest competitions in the world if you look at it in terms of quality.
“Ross has come back from his playing T20 last winter having learnt different techniques, different ways of batting, different tactics.
“He has shared them with the group and I think that has helped everybody.”
