Worcestershire CCC duo Daryl Mitchell and Dillon Pennington both scored half centuries but finished on the losing side in the Birmingham Premier League playing for Brockhampton and Shrewsbury respectively.
Mitchell, fresh from his heroics with the ball in the County’s Vitality Blast triumph over Gloucestershire, hit 65 off 71 balls with nine fours in the Bank Holiday Monday fixture with Halesowen.
But, after he was third out at 117, Brockhampton fell away and were dismissed for 175 in reply to Halesowen’s 247-6 in which Mitchell returned 1-35 from nine overs.
Pennington, one of Worcestershire’s bowling stars in the Specsavers County Championship win over Yorkshire at Scarborough, struck 58 off 39 balls with two sixes and seven fours against Knowle and Dorridge.
But the Shrews were bowled out for 163 in reply to Knowle and Dorridge’s 231 in which Pennington had bowled five overs for 22 runs.
Academy player Zain Ul-Hassan (7-0-21-3) helped Barnt Green (305-7) triumph by 104 runs over Kenilworth Wardens.
Also amongst the wickets was George Rhodes (10-0-40-4) for Barnards Green but they were skittled for 102 in 33.5 overs chasing Wellington’s 179.
Brett D’Oliveira took 1-45 and scored 22 and Josh Dell made 34 as Ombersley (178) lost by 22 runs to Walsall.
Ben Twohig chipped in with bat and ball for Kidderminster in their five wicket win over Himley. Twohig had figures of 9-1-22-1 as Himley were bowled out for 139 and made 33 off 36 deliveries.
