Harry Baddams scored an unbeaten half century as the Worcestershire CCC Development X1 made a strong response with the bat on day one of the two-day clash with their Warwickshire counterparts at Halesowen CC.
Baddams, who plays for Old Hill in the Birmingham League, hit 58 not out as Worcestershire closed on 125-1 from 35 overs.
He shared in an opening stand of 102 with Bilal Hussain who is unbeaten on 36 from 81 deliveries with five boundaries.
Fergus Roll will resume on 13 not out.
Earlier, Warwickshire had totalled 268-9 after electing to bat with the Worcestershire bowlers sharing the wickets.
Hassan Akram picked up 3-48 in 14 overs with George Marshall returning 2-30 and Hussain 2-18. Archie Oxley and Luke Tulacz chipped in with a wicket apiece.
Opener Griegan French hit 54 off 79 balls with one six and eight fours and then Louis Glover struck 66 from 92 deliveries with one six and 12 other boundaries.
