AUSTRALIA ‘A’ BATSMEN HEAD TO CHESTER ROAD IN FINE FORM

AUSTRALIA ‘A’ BATSMEN HEAD TO CHESTER ROAD IN FINE FORM

The Australia ‘A’ batsmen have been in fine form ahead of tomorrow’s (Tuesday’s) 50 over encounter with Worcestershire at Kidderminster.

The Australians have chased down totals of 262-9 by Northamptonshire and 283-9 by Derbyshire with 14 and 14.4 overs to spare respectively.

Matthew Wade has been in superb form in the opening role in both matches.

He scored 117 at Wantage Road when the other main contributor was Peter Handscomb (64).

Wade followed that up by smashing 151 off just 71 balls at Derby with 11 sixes and 14 fours – a total of 122 in boundaries.

Travis Head also weighed in with 68 off 66 balls with two sixes and eight fours.

He will be a familiar figure to Worcestershire fans having been the County’s main overseas player during 2018.

Head will be reunited with his South Australian team-mate Callum Ferguson.

On the bowling front, Andrew Tye picked up 6-65 from his 10 overs against Derbyshire.

Play gets underway tomorrow at 11am.
