Spinner Saeed Ajmal has bowled with his remodelled action for the first time – and is confident of being cleared by the International Cricket Council to play in the 2015 World Cup.
The Pakistan star, who enjoyed great success for Worcestershire last season, was supervised by another former spinner in Saqlain Mushtaq.
Saeed bowled a series of overs in the nets at the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore to Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez which were filmed by high speed cameras.
The 36-year-old was reported over his action during Pakistan's Test series in Sri Lanka in August and suspended from international cricket.
Saeed has to prove with his remodelled action he is straightening his arm under the 15 degrees angle allowed by the ICC.
He has to have his action cleared in a biomechanic test by the ICC
Saeed said: "I am confident of getting cleared before the World Cup and my ambition is to make the World Cup squad."
Saqlain also believes that Ajmal "can return with a legitimate action."
He picked up 63 wickets in nine LV = County Championship appearances for Worcestershire last season and helped them gain promotion to Division One.
The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Shaharyar Khan, spoke to Saeed and Saqlain after the net session.
Meanwhile Ajmal, who also played for the county in 2011, continues to top the ICC ODI bowling rankings despite his suspension.
He is currently on 770 points – 14 more than fellow spinner Sunil Narine of the West Indies.
