Saeed Ajmal is set to figure prominently when it comes to the 2015 World Cup – but only from the commentary box.
The 37-year-old spinner, who took 63 LV = County Championship wickets for Worcestershire last season, is still waiting for the results of his ICC biochemanics test on his remodelled action in Chennai to see whether his ban from international cricket is lifted.
But he will be keeping an eye on every ball bowled in Australia and New Zealand next month after being hired by an Urdu TV channel in Pakistan to provide commentary.
Ajmal said: "I have signed with Dunya TV for the World Cup commentary. I shall be sitting in a studio in Lahore and offer my comments on matches not involving only Pakistani team but other countries as well.
"My views will be aired after every match played in Australia and New Zealand."
Worcestershire Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes has confirmed he wants to resign Ajmal for the 2015 campaign if his action is deemed legal by the ICC.
Ajmal remains hopeful of his action being given the green light but is adamant he will not play in the World Cup.
He said: "I am hopeful of being cleared. However, I am not changing my decision of pulling out of the World Cup squad.
"The decision was taken in the last week of December and even if I am cleared of my action, I will not make myself available for the World Cup.
"Playing of this World Cup is not in my destiny and I accept it."
