Three Worcestershire Academy players in Reeve Evitts, Joe Stanley and Ollie Walker all played important roles for the Midlands in their five wicket win over the South West in the opening Super Fours game at Loughborough.
Evitts and Stanley both picked up two wickets as the South West were bowled out for 181 in 42.4 overs after electing to bat.
Walker and Evitts then figured in key partnerships in rescuing the Midlands from 51-4 in support of century-maker Kai Smith as victory was achieved in just 33.1 overs.
Evitts came on first change and struck twice in the space of three overs and finished with figures of 5-0-16-2.
Stanley, the fifth bowler to be used, gave little away and also enjoyed a double breakthrough and ended with 10-1-36-2.
When the Midlands batted, Walker (15) came to the wicket at 51-4 and supported Smith in a partnership of 67 in 14 overs.
Evitts (20 not out) was also a fine foil for Smith in a match-winning unbroken stand of 69 in just 10 overs.
The Midlands are back in action tomorrow (Tuesday) against the North in another 50 over contest.
