ACADEMY STRONGLY PLACED IN BATTLE TO TOP ECB COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP GROUP 

Worcestershire’s Academy are strongly placed in the battle to top the ECB Under-18 County Championship Group Two after their drawn game with Gloucestershire at Stourbridge.

The 13-point haul lifted Worcestershire’s tally to 61 from three games, and they are lying in the third spot, just eight points behind leaders Gloucestershire with a game in hand.

They collected maximum 24 point hauls against Northamptonshire and Cricket Wales before sharing the spoils against Gloucestershire.

Rehaan Edavalath’s scores of 125 and 54 against Gloucestershire took his total in the competition to 426 from six knocks in the competition.

Ben Parker is currently the Academy’s leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 11 victims.

Worcestershire were bowled out for 183 from 51.5 overs in their second innings against Gloucestershire, with Luke Powell (30) scoring useful runs.

Gloucestershire were set a 311 target, and Academy pace bowler Cameron Jones broke an opening stand of 50.

The visitors were well placed at 155-2, but then three wickets fell for nine runs, two of them to Ollie Walker.

Gloucestershire eventually closed on 234-7, with Worcestershire’s points tally made up of four batting points, four bowling points and five for the draw.

Jones finished with figures of 18-2-46-3, Walker 10-2-32-2, Nisar 6-1-17-1 and Ciaran Baker-Smith 15.3-5-25-1.
