ACADEMY PLAYER OLLIE WALKER HITS 64 AND PICKS UP TWO WICKETS IN BPL TRIUMPH

Academy player, Ollie Walker, made important contributions with bat and ball for Himley in their 113-run win over Dorridge in the Birmingham and District Premier League.

Walker top-scored with 64 off 68 balls with three sixes and six fours in a total of 236-8 from 50 overs.

It was his fifth half century in the competition this summer after scores of 80 versus Lichfield, 65 (Harborne), 67 (Walsall) and 70 (Worfield).

Walker put on 68 for the third wicket with Olly Cox (37) and then picked up two wickets for 26 runs in seven overs as Dorridge were dismissed for 123.

Academy captain Joe Stanley’s three-wicket burst helped Wolverhampton to a 79-run win over Walsall.

Tom Fell hit a half century in Wolverhampton’s 272-9, and then, after Walsall reached 61-0 in reply, Stanley took three of the next four wickets.

The off spinner came on first change and finished with figures of 10-0-33-3 as Walsall were bowled out for 193.

Taylor Cornall made 40 for Ombersley (239-9) in their 50-run win over Halesowen (189 all out) and Rehaan Edavalath 37 for Barnards Green (128-2) in an eight-wicket win over Bromsgrove (126 all out).

Seconds coach Kadeer Ali is on the verge of celebrating the Premier Division One title in his first season with Smethwick.

Kadeer picked up two wickets in Smethwick’s five-wicket win over Kenilworth Wardens, for whom Henry Cullen made 33 in a total of 170 all out.
