Match Preview: Leicestershire Foxes v Worcestershire Rapids

Worcestershire are back on the road for the third time in four days in the Vitality Blast with Gareth Roderick stressing the importance of the Rapids bouncing back in Sunday’s encounter with Leicestershire Foxes at the Uptonsteel County Ground (2.30pm start).

The Rapids triumphed against Nottinghamshire Outlaws at Trent Bridge on Thursday but then 24 hours later were edged out by Northamptonshire Steelbacks at Wantage Road.

Roderick came close to pulling that game out of the fire with 39 off 22 balls and he and his team-mates are determined to try and make amends against the Foxes.

The keeper-batter said: “Back on the road and we know with this tournament that in a blink of an eye you are half-way through it.

“It is important for us to bounce back. We have played some good cricket in the last few days, winning one and losing one, and we’ll pick ourselves up and we will go again. These games are fine margins.”

Josh Cobb is back available to face one of his former clubs in Leicestershire after not being available to face his previous club on Friday.

He has signed a white ball contract for the Rapids for this summer and is full of praise for the resilience of the squad.

Cobb, who won the Blast with the Foxes and the Steelbacks, said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time this summer. It seems a very relaxed bunch and they are also a resilient bunch.

“They’ve gone through a lot with various different things on and off the field – the ground (flooding), the sadness of Josh Baker and losing overseas players (to injury).”
