KASHIF ALI TOP SCORES WITH 65 FOR SECONDS IN LOCAL DERBY T20

Kashif Ali top-scored with a half century for Worcestershire Seconds who went down by five wickets to a strong Warwickshire line-up in a SET20 encounter at Barnt Green.

Triallist Kashif followed up his two half centuries against Northamptonshire in the Second Eleven Championship by making 65 off 45 balls.

He struck one six and eight fours and was the main contributor to Worcestershire’s 143-5 after they elected to bat.

Jacques Banton made 29 off 25 balls and skipper Gareth Roderick gave the innings
late impetus with 30 off 21 deliveries with two sixes.

When Warwickshire batted, Banton dismissed Paul Stirling with the first ball of the innings and Mitchell Stanley also accounted for Dan Mousley and Adam Hose.

But Jacob Bethell’s 79 off 45 balls with six sixes and seven fours steered Warwickshire to the brink of victory.

He eventually fell to Pat Brown as Warwickshire reached their target in 15.2 overs with West Indies star, Carlos Brathwaite, undefeated on ten. Stanley and Banton both ended with figures of 2-23.

*The Seconds are back in SET20 action on Friday when they take on Glamorgan at Sudbrook CC, Caldicott (1pm start).
