2022 OVERSEAS SIGNING MATTHEW WADE POWERS AUSTRALIA INTO T20 FINAL

Worcestershire CCC 2022 overseas signing, Matthew Wade, powered Australia into the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup with a six hitting blitz against Pakistan in Dubai.

Wade gave a demonstration of the kind of hitting New Road members and supporters can look forward to next summer in sealing victory with six balls to spare.

He brought the game to a dramatic climax with THREE successive sixes off Shaheen Shah Afridi as Australia chased down a 177 target.

Wade scooped the first six over short fine leg, clubbed the second over mid-wicket and made sure of victory with another scoop.

He ended up unbeaten on 41 from just 17 balls with four sixes and two fours.

Wade, available for all formats for Worcestershire throughout 2022, came to the wicket at 96-5 in the 13thover.

He and Marcus Stoinis (40 not out) turned the game on its ahead, in a similar fashion to New Zealand against England, by adding an unbroken 81 in just 6.4 overs

David Warner (49) was the other main contributor for Australia while Mohammed Rizwan top-scored for Pakistan in their total of 176-4.

Wade and his team-mates will now be looking for a repeat performance on the same ground against the Black Caps on Sunday.
