Ross Whiteley launched his fourth spell at Prospects Cricket Club with a century – but the Worcestershire all-rounder finished on the losing side.
Whiteley skippered the side in the South Australian Cricket Association Grade A encounter with Adelaide University.
But he fought a lone hand with the bat as his side were beaten by 49 runs.
Adelaide totalled 247-9 in their 50 overs after electing to bat with Whiteley bowling three overs for 14 runs as second change.
He came to the wicket at 22-1 in reply and hit 106 off 117 balls with five sixes and 13 fours – a total of 82 in boundaries.
But when he was sixth out at 171 it effectively signalled the end of Prospects hopes and they were dismissed for 198 in 43.2 overs.
Joe Leach was on the winning side for North Canberra in an Australian Capital Territory first grade clash with West District.
Leach took the new ball and was his side's most economical bowler with 1-33 from 10 overs as West District made 240-9 from 50 overs after winning the toss.
The New Road all-rounder made only five after coming in at number four but his side reached their target with two balls to spare.
Wicket-keeper Joe Clarke did not get chance to bat for South Perth before the rain intervened in the Western Australian Cricket Association first grade match with Midland Guildford.
Clarke took one catch in the Midland Guildford innings of 227-6 in 50 overs but the elements had the final say with South Perth 108-3 in 29 overs.
In the same competition Alex Hepburn was dismissed for a duck as Willetton Dragons were beaten by Mount Lawley after being dismissed for 118.
Ed Barnard returned Queanbeyan's best figures of 2-38 but they went down to Weston Creek Molongo in a Australian Capital Territory first grade fixture.
*Leach then switched into Twenty20 mode and helped ACT to a four wicket win over Penrith in the Sydney Grade Cricket Kinsgrove Sports Cup on Sunday.
He took the new ball and finished with the excellent figures of 3-24 from four overs as Penrith were restricted to 100–9.
Leach made 12 for ACT batting at number five as his side reached their target with two balls to spare.
