It followed on his from 91 not out off 35 balls with 11 sixes in the NatWest T20 Blast clash at Headingley and century in the LV = County Championship match at Scarborough.

Steve Patterson did the damage for the Vikings with 5-24 in 7.3 overs after Glenn Maxwell had hit a 71 ball century in Yorkshire's 345-6 in their 50 overs.

Ed Barnard picked up three wickets for the home side on his debut in the competition.

Yorkshire skipper Andy Hodd elected to bat and shared in an opening stand of 61 in 13 overs with Alex Lees.

Barnard made the first breakthrough when Hodd (18) nicked through to Tom Kohler-Cadmore at slip.

Lees added anothe 61 in in 11 overs with Maxwell but when on 67 he gave spinner Saeed Ajmal the charge and was stumped by Ben Cox.

Maxwell scored freely and gradually accelerated, going to his half century off 46 balls and requiring only another 25 to reach three figures with four sixes and six fours.

He was given good support by Gary Ballance (28) in a partnership of 105 in 14 overs.

Charlie Morris returned to the Rapids attack and accounted for Ballance who was caught by Ajmal at mid on attempting a drive.

Barnard collected two wickets in two balls with Maxwell (111) caught behind off a paddle sweep and Will Rhodes (0) falling to the same combination.

Yorkshire were then 236-5 in the 39th over but some big hitting from Jack Leaning and Adil Rashid ——- added 102 in 11 overs.

Morris claimed his second wicket in the final over when Rashid (41) gave Cox his fourth dismissal of the innings. Leaning finished unbeaten on 58.

Barnard finished with figures of 3-59 from his 10 overs.

The Rapids suffered an early setback when Richard Oliver (2) was run out by bowler Steven Patterson's direct hit on the stumps at the non striker's end after he tried to regain his ground.

Tom Fell, the Rapids highest scorer in the competition last season, made 14 before he was caught at mid on off Patterson.

Mitchell made a determined 32 but became the second Rapids to be run out by Lees' throw from mid wicket at 60-3.

Kohler-Cadmore (18) fell victim to a fine catch by Rhodes running back to long on off Rashid.

D'Oliveira played some pleasing strokes and advanced to 42 before he tried to flick a Liam Plunkett delivery down to third man and was caught behind with the Rapids 137-5 in the 33rd over.

Cox (6), Leach (7), Barnard (0) and Ajmal (6) fell cheaply but Whiteley continued to clear the ropes on a regular basis until he holed out off Patterson to deep mid wicket and was last out.
